Golf
The year 2007 ushered in the inaugural Stanford St. Jude Championship as Stanford Financial Group assumed title sponsorship of the Memphis PGA TOUR stop. The first year with Stanford at the helm was a success by all accounts. The field of play was the strongest it has been in the tournament’s recent history. Player participation at off-site tournament-related events was one of the highest of all PGA TOUR events. The “Desire Knows No Bounds” marketing campaign, featuring the song Desire by rock legends U2, has won one of the advertising industry’s most prestigious recognitions with selection to be included in the annual Communication Arts yearly photography book.
The re-engineering strategies for the event was cited as a “Best Practices” model by the PGA TOUR and industry influentials. Gate sales were up 58 percent over last year's figures. For the first time in the history of the event, the overflow parking areas were at capacity. Saturday's crowd was the largest the tournament has experienced in more than 10 years. The event logged 39 hours of broadcast time on The Golf Channel, 10 hours of broadcast time on CBS and received more than 1,100 print and broadcast media stories including extensive national coverage from ESPN, USA Today, Sports Business Journal and Golfweek. Eagles for St. Jude
Stanford Financial Group is making a $1,000 donation for every eagle made this season by a PGA TOUR professional with its Eagles for St. Jude program. We invite you to join with us by making your own gift to Eagles for St. Jude with a goal of raising $1.5 million for St. Jude during this year's PGA TOUR season. Together, our contributions can help St. Jude remain on the cutting-edge of research so that families from around the world, regardless of their ability to pay, have a place that provides highly specialized treatments that may be their child's only chance for survival.
